Default Acrobat Professional - CMYK type turns RGB?

I am trying to use Acrobat 7.0.7 as a preflight program, but I'm running into the following issues:

I need to add a number to existing pdf files (I don't have access to native files), but when I add them with the touchup text tool, they appear to be RGB even when I specify CMYK. Also, when I choose "embed font" it says I can embed the font, appears to embed, but when I re-open file, type has not been embedded.

I'm running OS10.4.7 on an Intel Mac.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As to the color, how are you determining the color space of the type? I don't see that in the Properties dialog box when using the TouchUp Text tool.

What font are you editing? Do you have a copy of the font installed on your computer. You must do so in order to add text.

    Hi Alice

Text added by the TouchUp Tool is always sRGB. You have to convert the RGB Elements to CMYK using the ColorConversion Tool. Make sure to check to option "Preserve Black Text" and "don not embed Profile"

In terms of font embedding - I also couldn't get it to work on my Mac ether. For this I guess you need a different tool - like PitStop

Hi Steve and Peter - I appreciate your responses. In answer to Steve's question:

In the properties dialog box/text tab, I'm selecting the Fill/Other Colors and changing it using the provided CMYK sliders, but it converts to RGB when I close the box...?
I've now tried converting RGB using the color conversion tool, and that seems to work, but why would they have CMYK sliders if they don't work? (And I'm concerned of other color shifts taking place when I do the overall convert.)

Also in the properties dialog box/text tab, Permissions say "Can Embed Font", but again when I click Embed and Subset, they look like they are working, but if I use the preflight tool, it will tell me my text is RGB and my fonts are not embedded. And yes, I have the fonts properly loaded, they work in other programs, etc., so that isn't the issue.

I've been wondering if these problems are because I'm running on imac, and the program simply isn't functioning properly? Peter, are you on an imac? It's good to know I'm not losing my mind when the font embedding simply refuses to work!

    Aii. Any suggestions appreciated!

    Hi Alice

No, I work on a G5 and a MacBook Pro.

The CMYK Slider you see is the color selection tool from OS-X. The resulting color is always RGB.

Indeed, the CMYK sliders have never worked in any version of Acrobat for
the CMYK space. You can convert with the CONVERT COLOR option under
Acrobat or use other third party tools.

I could embed the font with Enfocus Pitstop but not with Acrobat. There
seems to be an internal problem with the encodings as Peter has mentioned.
