Default Acrobat toolbar buttons versus acrobat print driver?

Is there any benefit to be gained by using the Acrobat buttons in the IE or Word toolbar as compared to generating the pdf by using the print driver?

In other words, do I lose any performance or feature benefit from disabling (and thus not using) the Acrobat buttons and instead only using the print driver to make pdfs?

The buttons (especially the ones in Word/Excel/etc.) do offer extra functionality like preserving links, creating bookmarks, etc.

For future reference, "the Buttons" are called "PDFMaker."

okay - the real reason I ask is because they acrobat toolbar is very annoying. It takes up far too much space and it keeps reappearing everytime i close it. I am using office2k3 - when i right click on the toolbar and uncheck the acrobat bar, after a little bit it will reappear. shouldn't it stay gone?

Make sure you are using Acrobat 6.0.1 - some say that this fixed the disappearing/reappearnig toolbars. You also need it for compatibility with Office 2003.

If you can live without it then the best way to remove it is by a custom install of Acrobat.

You should ask Reader questions in the Reader Forum.
