Acrobat toolbars in MS Office
I don't use Acrobat with any office program except word and would like to make the toolbars go away in powerpoint and excel, but they insist on reappearing regardless of how many times I dismiss them - is there a way to remove or disable these little two button annoyances?

Well you can use a derivation of this method just apply to which program you don;t want PDFmaker to appear.
First some explaination: This Trick relies on a UNIX (Which OSX is) rule. "You can replace a Folder with a file of the same name.
Second: Both Acrobat and Office have a Feature called "Self-Healing". That is if they detect a missing or defective item they attempt to replace it by writting over top of Defective component or replacing missing component.
Close all Office Programs and Acrobat.
When at Finder Level go to File menu and choose find file.
When Find File is Open Type in either PDFMaker or PDF Maker. Three items should show up,having extension, Pdf Maker.dot, Pdf Maker.ppa, Pdf Maker.xla.
Create three empty folder on Desktop. Rename them each exactly as originals including the extensions.
REmove each item one at a time to trash replace with the empty folder exactly named.
Repeat with any others you wish to kill.
I recomend that you kill all of them, since the Mac OS you can create a PDF through the print menu directly or you can switch to the adobe PDF print driver and create That way as well. You can also create a Poscript file and Drop on Distiller.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it seems to me Adobe ought to have a better solution available... I'll give it a shot if someone doesn't jump in with a simpler method.

There are other methods, you could just delete the PDFMaker Files but you have to turn off the rule using it in word, PowerPoint and Excel. But it doesn't always stick.
And I must clear up something(Brain thinking faster than hands can Type):
The Rule is You "CAN'T" replace a Folder with a file of the same name. I left the 't off of can which gives a completely diffrent meaning.
The method above is the only permanent method that sticks. Until you reinstall the system. Then you must do it once again.
