AcroRead7 a Slow, Lumbering Monster on a G5 ??!!
Has anyone else had this experience with Acrobat Reader 7.0 :
It's slower than molasses in January. Slower than a huge Gaussian blur on an old Perfoma. Slow, slower, slowest of all the PDF viewers I've run on my 2x1.8GHz G5 with 1Gb of RAM. Running Word 2004 with a large (8 Mb) document in Page Layout View alongside two similar-sized documents in Acrobat Reader leaves me plenty of RAM free...my graphics card is certainly up to the task of scrolling quickly through the windows of a modestly graphics-laden document (no true color images, all line art and .GIF charts). But Acrobat is not up to the task. OS X Preview handles the job just fine.
What is the point of all the multimedia and connectivity in Acrobat Reader if you can't scroll down quickly in a large document -- even with all the features turned off?
Why does it tell me there is Javascript in the document I created using the PrintAsPdf plugun, but won't tell me what that Javascript is, or what it does?
Acrobat 7.0 has a serious case of feature-itis, similar to Nicole Smith and other plastic-surgery showcases. The best thing about it is the logo. I think I'll transfer the logo over to Preview. That's exactly what I'm going to do. And I'm going to delete this horrible piece of c**P that's been foisted on the public in a brazen ( but not very convincing) ploy to get them to buy Acrobat.
Fie on thee, Adobe! Get thee to an Open Source archive!

Does this occur when plug-ins are disabled? Hold the SHIFT key down when
booting ....
Also - is this PDF local - or an a network drive? Try a local copy
There is also an update to Reader 7.0 - you might want to try this .....
Cheers!
