Actin for tiling object
Hi,
I find my self in this situation a lot:
I am sent an eps (say 2x2 in for example) and I have to layout as may as will fit on a 11x17 sheet and then print. Now obviously this isn't really hard to do manually, either with blends or by making copies and using the alignment panel, but it still takes a bit of time. I was wondering if anyone know if there is an automated way of doing this boring chore. Something I'm missing?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Actin for tiling object
Tim,
surely, one could create an action for that. My prefered way is to take the Transform effect and save different line/row systems as graphic style libraries. Have you ever tried that?

Re: Actin for tiling object
Hi Kurt,
Thanks for the reply.
Funny...I never realized the transform effect made multiple copies.
I did think about making an action however the problem is that the EPS I import won't always be the same size. Using the transform effect is at least a bit simples though.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Actin for tiling object
Tim,
you said that you never realized the multiple copy aspect of the Transform effect. Hope you know that you can repeat the effect and modify it freely through the appearance palette. That is what makes the job so easy to arrange different line/row layouts with different object sizes. And as you can save different appearance sets as reusable graphic styles it can be a single step solution. That means: Select the object, select the graphic style and here is your 16 lines/8 rows layout…
