    Regardless of whether you use MSI you should be okay if you're
    installing from the same series, i.e. any release in the 5.8.x series
    should be binary compatible with any other in that series. Note that
    there was a slip in one version in the 5.8.x series where binary
    compatibility was broken, but I don't think it affected any of the
    ActiveState releases.
