    Default Adding a network printer

Hi, everybody. This is a first time post for me. I'm an experienced
user but a novice at system administration. I'm trying to set up a
printer on a 2.8 machine. I've gotten it to work locally but I can't
get remote print requests to work.

    I used admintool. Under "Browse - Printers" I've added a printer. I
have "accept print requests" and "process print requests" checked. The
User Access List is "All". The printer port is "/dev/printers/0" and
the printer is a HP LaserJet 5MP.

Printing works 100% perfect from the server but when I've been trying
to print from other machines on the same domain using "lpr -P
printername filename.ps"-style commands I got nothing. It seems like
the print daemon isn't running but it seems to be. I've also tried
adding the printer to the machine I want to print from although I'd
like to allow all print requests to work.

If anybody could offer me any advice about what I'm doing wrong, I'd
be thankful. I've tried many permutations of all kinds of ideas and
still no success. If I missed some critical piece of information, just
tell me what it is and I will supply it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jason Quinn

What procedure did you follow to add the printer to those other machines?

did you use admintool on the client machines and point them to the print server?
