Default Adding a new custom colour to the Default Palette

Hi I am a new user of Illustrator using version 10 , windows XP platform. I have not been able to figure out how to save a custom colour into the default palette. So far, all I have been able to do is save it in a particular file, and then when opening up a new blank document, open up the colour palette from the other file. Is there any way to make the custom colour part of the default palette so when starting a new document it will always be there? I assume it is something easy, but alas it escapes me at the moment and is driving me crazy as the custom colour I will be using in almost every new file.

Default Re: Adding a new custom colour to the Default Palette

To have colours appear in the swatch palette when you create a new blank document you need to open the file: 'Adobe Illustrator Startup_CMYK'.ai or 'Adobe Illustrator Startup_RGB.ai' usually found in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Illustrator 10\Plug-ins. These are the default files that Illustrator uses when creating a new blank CMYK or RGB document. Just add your colour to the swatch palette and save the file. You can also make other changes in the default file so they appear every time. Make a back-up of these files first if you want to revert back to them later.

    Cheers
