Adding a table from another server - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

Attempting to add a table from another server without copy/pasting it to my server. I have written the following: { SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS1.LiveFinancials.dbo.livCalendar livCalendar_1 } It seems to work but it won't save, instead showing the following error message: { ODBC error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] MSDTC on server 'DYNAMICS1' is unavailable. [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. } What should I do? Default Adding a table from another server

    Attempting to add a table from another server without
    copy/pasting it to my server. I have written the
    following:

    {
    SELECT *
    FROM DYNAMICS1.LiveFinancials.dbo.livCalendar
    livCalendar_1
    }

    It seems to work but it won't save, instead showing the
    following error message:

    {
    ODBC error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]
    MSDTC on server 'DYNAMICS1' is unavailable. [Microsoft]
    [ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The operation could
    not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB'
    was unable to begin a distributed transaction.
    }

    What should I do?

    Default Re: Adding a table from another server

    Richrd,

    Have you added the DYNAMICS1 server as linked server?
    In order to access data from other servers , you need to first register the
    server by using sp_addlinkedserver.

    or else you can use OPENROWSET, OPENDATASOURCE functions to provide an ad
    hoc connection to remote server.
