Adding screen resolution to Hoary
How do I add a screen resolution to Hoary. I had this install on a laptop
with a 1024x768 resolution and now have it on a laptop with a screen
resolution of 1280x800. It runs in a VMWare virtual machine.
TIA

Save a backup.
Make changes.
Restart X.

dir. There is an /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 . I edited that post backup but
nothing was added to the screen resolution selection after restart. I found
Xorg.conf in /usr/share/xresprobe. I backed that up and edited it,
restarted, no additional modes were listed.
If I recall I once did a Warty to Hoary upgrade by changing all of the
repositories and doing an upgrade. Maybe this has something to do with the
confusing status. Maybe a reinstall is in order.
Thanks for your help.
