Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
As a continuation from my "creating a website on ai" below, I am trying to create rollovers, and as mentioned in the forum I am in the "help" menu and just going through the steps (and have both artworks built-before and after rollover). 1.) Select the object- no problem. 2.) choose an event- no problem. But... 3.) "In the javaScript text box, write a JavaScript command." What do I write? It doesn't talk about this part. Like I mentioned in my previous forum I am new to this part of ai, and will be reading about slices today. Should I even wait until slices are completed before I do rollovers. Probably a dumb question, but like I mentioned, this is another dark cave I am exploring.
Thanks for any help

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
Well, since I'm the one who directed you to that part of the Help menu, I hope someone else responds, too. I've never used on Illustrator's SVG utility to make rollovers, relying instead on either the methods in ImageReady or GoLive, which are very straightforward.

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
That is the part of AI that should be improved unless you know Java Script you have come to your end in creating rollovers in AI you will have to leave the rest to the web professional and they will have no problem doing this or bring it into Go Live or Image Ready.
This is something I will be making a feature request for shortly.

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
Leave it to me to "stump" one of my primary ai guru's. Just kidding Gary, you have been one of my primary "responders", and I have learned so much from you and others on the forum pages. I do have ImageReady- (came with photoshop 7) should I switch to that program? Actually, rather than learning a whole new program, I would rather stay with ai (cs) because I know it. (OK, I know "some" of it). So hopefully we will get some answers.
thanks anyways

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
Wade and Gary??!! Wade, you must have responded as I was writing to Gary. I know I am in deep ____ if my 2 primary "guru's" can't tap their magic wands, and make everything work!!! Just kidding, I know we are getting into code and web design here. however, I would still like to stay in ai if I can, so maybe I should start a topic... "Anyone know JavaScript?". We'll see, I will give this one a day.
thanks anyways

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
You need to use onMouseOver code. You can find an example here:
=http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/98/23/index3a_page2.html?tw=design>WebMonkey mouseover example
I have to point out that I've never used Illustrator for web work so I'm not sure exactly how it iteracts with the code here but I think you need the mouseover/mouseout code or the attribute code.

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
Above, when I mentioned the attribute code, I meant the attribute name ="image" code.

Re: Adding SVG Interactivity to artwork
Very cool stuff. I especially like the schematic of the Adobe towers. Now if I could just find the time to learn how to do that...
