additional plug-in folder A.K.A cd rom drive? - Adobe Photoshop 7, CS, CS2 & CS3

Im currently using a PC that has a few limitations. ok.....alot of limitations. The biggest one being hard drive space. In order to run my fav progs, and half way keep up, I store all I can on CD-R. My question is about Photoshop 7 and the additional plug-in folder. I decided to burn a cd with all my aquired plug-ins and load it from the cd rom.Im sure im saving precious HD space, but am I compromising too much in the way of performance?     At the current cost of HDD's why not just replace your secondary drive with
    something bigger?

    Im going to do that for sure. Esp at about $1 per gig...needless to say,,money is tight so I make due. IN the mean time, is it common to store plug ins on cd-r disks?????

    If you do, I would expect Photoshop to complain if the CD wasn;t on-line
    when you started Photoshop as it reads all plugins on startup

    wouldn't setting the ADDITIONAL PLUG INS DIRECTORY take care of that?
