ADO Connection timeout does not work - Microsoft SQL / MS SQL Server

hi, I am writing a porgram that retrieved the data from SQL Server. It is required the program would not suspend or hang on, even though SQL Server is down or Network busy while accessing the database. I have tried to set the connection timeout to 1 on ADO Connection. But it doesn't work. When I drop the network cable, the program is hang on and no repsonse for 15 seconds. What can I do? *** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com *** Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!...

try to set two things to zero

    (1)connection timeout to zero
    and also
    (2)command timeout to zero

    Do both the things.

    cheers,

actually zeroing the timeout implies a default value which is 30 sec. the
problem the original question describes is probably due to timeout on the
server name resolution - NetBIOS timeout then probably another timeout on
    the DNS resolution.

    oops, my mistake :-))

CommandTimeout defaults to 30 sec and sure zero mean "wait indefinately"
