Adobe Illustrator 11.0 won't startup in OSX 10.3
Please help! I'm extremely frustrated. I purchase OSX 10.3 and an upgrade of Adobe Illustrator 11.0 about two weeks ago. Installed on an older G-4 Desktop with 640 MB Ram. The first time I started Illustrator it worked find. When I would restart computer or logout as a specified user Illustrator would quit early in the startup.
I've called Adobe and Apple both had me check the hard drive and reset disk permissions and both are confused why it's crashing.
Only when I create a new user would I have a hope that Illustrator would start up at all. As soon as I logout Illustrator will not restart after log in.
I am not using any other font management programs.
Does anyone have any answers?

Re: Adobe Illustrator 11.0 won't startup in OSX 10.3
Why are you logging out is there a reason that you are not using a font management application?
I have a thought in spite of the fact that you feel that because you are not using a font management it still could be a font corruption.
Then you can delete all the accounts that you have created except the administrator account. Drag the Preferences folder out of the User/Username/Library to the desktop. restart without logging out set the account to automatically log in at start up.
Now try to launch AI CS it launches correct? You then have a conflicting software or plug in or color profile or such. You have to find it and get rid of it or reinstall.

Re: Adobe Illustrator 11.0 won't startup in OSX 10.3
Hi Kevin,
It sounds like there may be something happening related to your Illustrator preference file. Illustrator writes to its preference file when you quit out of it, and each new user would get their own preference file, which would explain why creating a new user would allow Illustrator to launch the first time.
Try this: Log in as a specific user, then delete the Adobe Illustrator Prefs file for that user, which should be located in Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS Settings/Adobe Illustrator Prefs. Then try launching Illustrator. If it launches successfully, don't change or do anything in the application. Simply quit it, and try launching it again to see if it works successfully. If it does, try working in it and stay aware of any actions you take--particularly in regard to changes to preferences or settings. If it doesn't, then it may be some other component as described by Wade above.
Let us know how that works out.

Wade,
You think in your spare time you could write you're own troubleshooting book on OSX.
You know... not to take away from your work, or this forum, or your other hobbies and interstests, and sleeping, or family, or maybe some creative activities you enjoy.
But I need it by 4/12/04, OK?
Just kidding, but I hate how Mac is so much like PC now. Did you take a class on this, or just adapt to it?
