How *exactly* are you making the PDF?
When I add the effect of drop shadow to type and make the drop shadow a spot color the drop shadow does not come out on my pdf. But if I make the drop shadow process it comes out on my pdf. Does anyone have a solution for this?...

Make sure you're using either the "Normal" or "Multiply" blend mode in your drop shadow dialog box. These are the only two modes that consistently work with spot colors.
My pdf's are made through Agfa Apogee Pilot RIP with Normalize settings for print for press. I check the shadows and tried both normal and multiply and they still do not show up.

settings are you using?
Are you printing to PostScript from InDesign? If so, exactly what
settings are you using in the InDesign print dialog?
I am printing to a PostScript. My InDesign setting are
Output-leave unchanged
Graphics - send data all
fonts- complete
PS Level 3
Data format ASCII
Advanced Medium Resolution
OPI is not checked
When I print to PostScript using those settings--with either the Adobe
PDF or Device Independent PPDs--and then use Distiller with Press job
options to make a PDF, the spot drop shadow comes out just fine.
What PPD are you using? How exactly are you making a PDF from the
PostScript file?
