Re: Adobe PDFPDE
Is your computer on a network? If so, someone is probably sharing their Adobe PDF printer.

Re: Adobe PDFPDE
PDFPDE is the PDF Printer PPD plug-in, I believe. Are you using an Intel Mac?

Dear bluellips
This option is grayed out, because it is not universal, just PPC. You need Acrobat 8 in order to use this option again.

Why? Does not Adobe PDF 8.0 show in your printer's list?

Re: Adobe PDFPDE
Hi
Best you "reset" the Adobe PDF Printing System.
First, delete any "Adobe PDF" printer
Next delete the PPD PlugIns from Adobe (to be found in /Library/Printers/ - only the content of the folder, not the folder itself)
Now start Acrobat 8. This will issue the "Repair" function.
You now get a working "Adobe PDF 8.0" Printer. The not working AdobePDE Printer menu should now be disappeared.
BTW: If you run Acrobat 7, make sure there are no "special"characters in your filenames of the distiller settings (like german umlauts). This will also break the PDE plugin. Rename the settings file, delete the Distiller preference and issue the "Repair" command of Acrobat Professional.
And again: The "Adobe PDF 7.0" printer driver plugin does not work on Wintel!
best regards
Peter

Re: Adobe PDFPDE
Thanks, this seems to eliminate the crossed out Adobe PDE printer. There is an other problem though, when i print out PDF`s in Quark 7.02 destiller 8 seems to be unable to print PDF.This seems to ble the same problem as with Quark 7 and Xerox printers. Anyone with a Quark 7 and Acrobat 8 who actually get it to print out PDF?
When i try exactly the same on other programs, like Neooffice, it sseems to work fine.

Re: Adobe PDFPDE
Hi
this is a Bug Quark introduced with the last update (7.02)
You have to issue the following command:
sudo chmod -R 777 /var/spool/cups/
this should do the trick

The symptom is that when quark sends the file to destiller, the Adobe PDF opens, I get a message saying destiller is opening, and the Adobe PDF then closes. No PDF is saved.
This seems to ble the same problem as with Quark 7 and Xerox printers.

The same problem used to occur on Xerox printers with Quark 7, but Xerox released a CUPS filter update which eliminated the problem.
