Adobe Will Destroy What Macromedia Has Accomplished
Steve Ballmer must have peed his pants in excitment when hearing the
announcement that Adobe intends to acquire Macromedia [1]. Anybody that has
been in this business since the proverbial day one knows from experience
Adobe will destroy what Macromedia has accomplished.
Adobe has dominated print only because there was and has been a lot of
resellers and dealerships within the print industry who have a knowledgebase
that is 1 mile deep and 1" wide which is how the print industry functions.
Those people in the "channel" are dumb and deaf however when it comes to web
design and development issues which requires a knowledgebase 1" deep and 1
mile wide.
Adobe has the worst reputation for customer support in the industry and has
always been good for sh!t communicating to and supporting customers. One
good look through all of the 404s and lack of customer support in the
crippled adobe.com website should get the message across noting adobe.com
has been in deep doo-doo for a long time.
The revenue Adobe has earned from the print industry has clearly not bought
the company any wisdom. That's why they are now in a last ditch effort
trying to buy their way out of the hole. I contend Adobe will destroy what
Macromedia has accomplished.

Oh hardly. I can't say I've found good support out of Macromedia or MS> Adobe has the worst reputation for customer support in the industry
either. ;o)
I definitely agree that they don't get the web (hence the purchase, I
suppose).

Interesting take. My concern would be how Adobe are going develop the
products that they've inherited. In particular, integration of DW and
ASP.NET v2.
