So, here we go again...

We've just landed a pretty big contract and I need to make an online 3D
viz as pretty as possible. I've been going through these forums looking
for ways to implement the holy grail of SW3D that is DX9 and OpenGL
Shaders in Shockwave. Inbetween all the bitchin' about 3D engines there
are a few jems of wisdom but tbh I've done nothing but gotten more and
more confused about the state of this engine!

Can anyone answer a few questions for me plz?....

1. I get the impression that it's an easy task for any C++ or
equivalent developer to build an xtra that would give us access to
OpenGL and DX9 Shaders, so why hasn't it been done yet? Does it run too
slow? Has no one commitioned one yet? Does it not run in a web page?

2. I saw this for D7 -- http://www.ravware.com/opengl.htm
Could this be updated so we can get access to the newer parts of the
OpenGL libraries?

3. 3DGroove... WTF IS IT? I can't find any good documentation about
this engine! Is it a totaly new engine or a reworking/add-on of the
origional 'Tron' engine?

4. There's loads of fanstastic open source 3D engines out there ready
for compiling, is it possible ( with a lil uber leet coding magics ) to
just whack one of these in an extra and let us use it to generate
images for our humble SW sprites?

5. Has anyone seen any kind of DX9 implementation within a web page
(java etc)? Anyone got a link?

plz don't tell me to go for another technology cuz for all it's bad
points Director's developing environment is a great, easy, quick and
intuative way to make content.... it just needs to be a teeny bit more
powerfull!

BTW My First Post!!! HELLO EVERYONE!
