Advanced Printing Options disappear in FMX - Macromedia Freehand

A colleague has been suffering from an intermittent problem when printing from FMX under OS X 10.3.8; with some files the Advanced button in the Freehand tab (in the print dialog) yields only a preview image - none of the normal options or subtabs. It's driving her crazy - can anyone help?...

I assume she's printing to a Postscript printer. The FH print tabs are not
    available to non-Postscript printers.

I've seen this happen after printing the file to (saving as) a Mac OS
variety PDF file. My solution was to log out and log in again. She could
also use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions. That often clears up
    strange behavior.

Make sure the page setup in the doent is formatting for the target
printer. Sometimes it helps to make the target printer the system default
    printer.

Judy - thanks for the reply. To respond: - Yes, it is a postscript printer, a
LaserJet 5000N with all the trimmings (duplexing, extra memory, etc), that has
performed like a champ for us for a while now. - She's rebooted both her
machine (a G5 duallie) and the printer, and we repair permissions on a regular
basis - none of which has seemed to have an impact. - The target printer is
correct. - I have suspected similarly, regarding the post-PDF creation, but
have no way of confirming as once it starts happening, it doesn't appear to
ever go away for that file. It's not easily reproducable! Any other ideas?
    Thanks!

I had a similar problem that was cleared up by deleting the Mac print dialog
custom presets preferences. It would be worth a try. The file is at:

    [user]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets.plist

Before deleting the file close applications. Delete file, log out, log in
    again.

    Good luck.
