I am unsure if your want to upgrade your harddrive to increase your
storage or you wish to increase your RAM which would increase your
memory capacity. In either case, your local computer store would be the
best place to get this info -- at no cost. This question is not specific
to linux in general or debian in specific. So, when you are ready to
install linux, let us know and we will be happy to assist your further.

Thats true, but if you HAVE to bring it - use plastic bags.
Photographers and other media personel in Irak used regular
plastic bags to cover their equipment. I'd guess they used tape as well.

advice needed
i am building a test paper to be run on a local network. The user's interface is all done in flashmx. I want information given to go to the "central" computer into a data base - probably MS's Access. What is the best way to get the info from the user to the receiver? I have come across XML - flash remoting - coldfusion - any idea's. The info to be received is fairly simple just a name an ID number and score or something like that.
thanks

Re: Advice Needed
Template markup does not constrain page layout. If you are having layout
problems, you would have them whether or not you were using a template on
that page.
Can you post a link to your page?

Re: Advice Needed
Yes mate because i am using tables i want to be able to edit the page without it stretching on its own and messing some of the page up

Re: Advice Needed
Honestly, there is nothing you can do to that page to 'heal' it. It's
already terribly sick due to your use of DW's Layout mode.
In my opinion, there are three serious problems with Layout Mode -
1. Perhaps most importantly, it sits between you and *real* HTML tables,
and fools you into believing that concepts like "layout cell" and
"autostretch" really mean something. They do not. As long as you use
Layout Mode, you'll never learn one of the most important things for new web
developers - how to build solid and reliable tables.
2. Actually, #1 wouldn't be *so* bad, except that the code that is written
by Layout Mode is really poor code. For example, a layout table contains
MANY empty rows of cells. This can contribute to a table's instability.
In addition, if your initial positioning of the table's cells is a bit
complex,
Layout Mode will throw in col- and rowspans aplenty as it merges and splits
cells willy-nillly to achieve the pixel-perfect layout you have specified.
Again,
this is an extremely poor method for building stable tables, because it
allows
changes in one tiny cell's shape (i.e, dimensions) to ripple through the
rest
of the table, usually with unexpected and sometimes disastrous consequences.
This is one of the primary reasons for the final result's fragility - read
this -
http://apptools.com/rants/spans.php
3. The UI for Layout Mode is beyond confusing - many options that you might
want to use are inaccessible, e.g., inserting another table, or layer onto
the page.
I can understand the new user's desire to use this tool to make their life
easier,
but the cost is just too heavy in my opinion.
To make good tables, keep it simple. Put a table on the page, and begin to
load your content. If you would want a different table layout, instead of
merging or splitting cells, consider stacking tables or nesting simple
tables instead, respectively.
And above all, do not try to build the whole page with a single table!
To read more about this approach, visit the DW FAQ link in my sig, and run
through the table tutorials.

Re: Advice Needed
You have a table with this width
table width="1162"
This means that anyone on a normal 1024 laptop screen is scrolling to the
side. Anyone on a 800 will have to scroll sideways a lot.
Easily fixed though. Making it 100%, or maybe 90% should be the next move.
Funny intro, and good idea for a UK web site.
You'll get there!

Re: Advice Needed
There's a learning curve that you cannot skip over, best to also listen or read
to what Murray says about your layout
If you have a 3 column layout, each table is best set at a % rather than
pixels.
Don't worry about altering your layout, the content is there and you can fit
it in as you please.
To stop images, you can't! - not really, because people can use always use
prtSc and then paste the screenshot into graphic software, or even windows
paint. You can stop people hotlinking to images from another site. You can
always prosecute anyone who robs your intellectual property.
You can embed a media player, but get your layout sorted first.
Why don't you just use a DW template to do this?
Go to start then choose new/starter pages and choose the 'Entertainment Home
Page'.
This template would suit you, it is a great neat template, uses tables but
only a few of them.
Use that as your template.
Good luck.

Re: Advice Needed
You can be happy with a table width of 1162 but your visitors will not be.
I can see the code of the website using a web browser, thats how I know its
got a table that big. You want a web site redesigning, not just a bit of coding
error pointed out. I'm busy as hell mate, i'm not being impolite and will help
as we go along. Maybe someone here will take pity and resize the tables for
you.
It might be a comedy site, but if half the gig is out of sight, it needs
correcting.
I can't redesign your web site for you, but if you have DW then you have a
ready made template that is perfect. You already have your text and images and
content, what it sits in matters neither here nor there. You'll be sound in a
few weeks.
Failing that, I've told you to resize your tables to %. That will need a bit
of playing with.
I realise you've put a lot of time just building the design you have, but it
is best that you are told straight before you commit yourself to sticking with
a bad layout design. In a few weeks/months you will agree.
