AI 10.0.1 sloooow drawing tools, rectangle, circle , star, etc.

I'm not quite sure what's happening, but now when I draw a circle, star, or use the pen tool, it looks like the actual drawing is having a hard time keeping up with the cursor. I've never seen this before- it's almost like an animated effect. If you move the cursor fast when drawing a rectangle, the corner of the rectangle will follow the same path, only much slower until it catches up with the cursor once you stop it. Any ideas as to what's happening? If I run AI 9 the tools work properly. I am running system 9.2.2, Mac G4 (AGP Graphics) 400 MHz, 1.2 GB Ram. Thanks for your help.

First, upgrade to 10.0.3. Second, if you can switch to Mac OS X (it looks like you have a configuration which should work), also upgrade to Illustrator CS. You'll notice a big speed difference.

Thanks very much. I just ordered a Sonnet processor upgrade so it might be a little easier to upgrade to OS X- does that sound OK?

This happened to me when I installed Norton Anti Virus. AI runs O.K. if I shut off auto protect and just run it manually when I have a chance.
