AI 10 for Mac slow to respond?
Why does Illustrator 10.0.3 just sit there and think for long seconds when I come back to it after checking my email? Got a truckload of memory, btw, with not a lot else going on except Mail & Safari.
Am tired of waiting and watching the gumdrop spin.
OK, I just checked and now there's no delay. Any ideas what gives?
Thanks.

Re: AI 10 for Mac slow to respond?
I have the same machine and have been having the same problem. Almost every time I switch applications or print, it takes forever for AI to get going again. Hope you get some answers.

Re: AI 10 for Mac slow to respond?
Do a Find on AdobeFnt*.lst files. Trash them all except the AdobeFnt.db. These are used to keep track of the fonts available to Adobe software. They will be recreated as needed.

Re: AI 10 for Mac slow to respond?
Just found this reply elsewhere on this forum and tried it. I didn't see anything labeled ".db", but I did have one that was over 400 megs (?!). I trashed just that one then restarted Illustrator. It seems to help --
Do a search on the AdobeFnt.lst files on your computer. You will find that one of them is probably quite large (>20MB). Trash all except the one marked .db which is a data base file. The ones needed will be recreated upon restarting AI. The real problem is that you have a corrupt font in your system. You will need to find and get rid of this font.

Re: AI 10 for Mac slow to respond?
Thanks for the tip... the whole app seems faster AND no spinning gumdrop. Now to find that corrupt font. Someday.
