    I think he's getting the I-beam to appear - he's just not getting the cursor to change to the little line-with-arrow that you need to move the type on the path.

    Oh, I get it now. I never noticed that could be a problem. I do know that it's very easy to see the flashing cursor line and think that's the I-beam, until you get familiar with the UI.

    Can I just say thanks to you all, for this information. I've just spent over an hour scratching my head, and making quite a few text on a path samples trying to get this to work. But your explanation has now solved it for me. Both rather obscure, but hey at least it works. It's problems like these that make me DREAD upgrading to a new version of Illustrator.
    Now, If I can only figure out how to get around a problem of Text Dissapearing when opening up an Illus 10 document in the new CS version. That's not good, when things just dissapear!
    Anyway, thanks again for posting these work arounds. Adobe, lets get a patch put together soon for this. (along with another glitch with the prefence file I've found with the Pantone swatch pallet set to persistent).
    that's just two I've found in less than a week.
    Isn't upgrading fun?
