AI9.0.2

Working on a blue/white, 350MHz, OS 8.6, 896 RAM. AI9.0.2 crashes or tells me I have too many files open when I have Acrobat4 and/or Photoshop6 open. Vector files created in AI9.0.2 consistently give me postscript errors when I print. Printing to Apple Laserwriter and Epson Stylus Color 3000. Have fixed some of the print issues by saving files from AI9 as AI8 and reopening them in AI8 and resaving the files from AI8.
Any fixes?

Upgrade to Mac OS 9. It's a limitation of OS 8.6 and earlier.

Better yet, move into the 21st century and get OS X!

I despise the flippant "upgrade fixes all" commentary you get to almost every question (as if everyone can keep up with all this) but in this case I agree. OS 8.6 is getting a bit too old to work without running into these kinds of problems. 9.2.2 would be a significant improvement. OSX is a huge leap that will probably create far more problems for you than you can even anticipate.
