This is a Windows situation. Check your system and see if perhaps you might have a low memory/resource situation.

My AI file icons in Illustratos CS look like some ten-year old Windows 1 computer icon. The file bears no resemblance to the icon, yet opens in Illustrator CS (which isn't necessarily a good thing, but that's a kettle of fish of a different colour). The icon is very ugly, even uglier than the standard collection of icons that are part of Windows 2000 (that's my OS)....

Man, do I wish I had fewer "Windows Situations". Zero would be good.
Then it just wouldn't be a computer, would it<g>. Or we could go back to the basic language days, but then we wouldn't have the programs and compatibility we do today either.
