This is a guess, but are you trying to enter the text string password,
or are you using the hexidecimal equivalent?

Macs and PCs use a different algorithm for converting the text password
    to the WEP encryption code.

I know on the Airport Base Station, there is a menu option to get the
network equivalent password that can then be used by PCs

    Good luck.

Thanks Bob. Is there anyway to get the network equivalent password on a
software base station, ie. Internet sharing in system preferences?
