airport compatibility -- is there a chart? - Mac Applications & Software

Is there a chart or other resource that has current Airport interoperability data? I've looked but not found. Particularly interested in 802.11g (so-called "extreme"). Reason for asking: have (blush) 17-inch and it cannot connect to anything non-Apple which rather completely defeats its usefulness as a traveling device. --dan...

Default airport compatibility -- is there a chart?

Is there a chart or other resource that has current Airport
interoperability data? I've looked but not found. Particularly
    interested in 802.11g (so-called "extreme").

Reason for asking: have (blush) 17-inch and it cannot connect
to anything non-Apple which rather completely defeats its usefulness
    as a traveling device.

Here's a site that lists the compatibility of several 802.11b
base stations with Apple's Airport card:

Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but I have found that my
original 802.11b airport works with multiple different base stations
in the US, but doesn't work with any in the Netherlands and Germany.

In fact, I couldn't even do a computer-to-computer airport network with
an identical Powerbook sold in Germany.

All 802.11 devices are compatible with one-another.

It should work fine. Something is wrong with your computer or
with the base station it's trying to talk to.

I apologise. That's actually an oversimplification. However,
802.11g was especially designed to be compatible with 802.11b.
