Airport Graphite - meaning of lamps? - Mac Networking

One of my Graphite Airports has stopped working. Only the centre lamp is on and it's red. The Apple site has some descriptions of what the lamps mean but I suspect it only covers what "normally" happens, specifically it does not cover just the centre lamp burning red! Can anyone please tell me what it means? I have also tried the reset / reload on the Apple site (including the bent paper clip in the reset hole for 30 seconds) but the Airport does not respond. Thanks Merlin...

This is probably due to the failure of one or more electrolytic
    capacitors. For example, see <http://www.vonwentzel.net/ABS/Repair/>

Thanks again, Tom, sometimes I think you are just waiting there for me
to pop up with problms <grin>.

Two things make me doubt this diagnosis. First, the light pattern
which indicates the dead capaacitors is continuous cycling, not one
steady red lamp. Secondly, IIUC, base stations with fried capacitors
can still be reset / accessed from the ethernet port - mine can't. Not
a bullet proof argument, I grant, but enough to make me want to
investigate other failure modes beefore I start taking the thing to
    pieces!
