AIX 5.2 ad EMC Power Path
AIX'ers
Has anyone done an AIX 5.2 upgrade with existing EMC Power Path HBA's.
If so is it necessary to upgrade EMC filesets (LPPs) and any other
software. I attempted to upgrade to AIX 5.2 this morning (NIM
Alternate Disk Install) but upon boot up, the EMC power path failed to
connect and consequently the EMC disk devices were not available.

You need to use PowerPath version 3.04 to support AIX 5.2. version
3.03 does not work.
We have not tried an upgrade from a 5.1 system to a 5.2 system with
powerpath, but all you should need to do is rmdev all the hdiskpowers
and powerpath0, and then run powermt config and then emc_cfgmgr.
We have multiple 5.2 servers with powerpath connecting to symm's and
clariions storage systems, and it works well.

I spoke with EMC support, they are saying that 212 will not work for
AIX 5.2
I have downloaded the latest PowerPath 3 with patches. (3.0.4) I will
be attempting the update of this in the next day or so.

slick way ; I gencopied (like smitty bffcreate) the power path
filesets to my NIM lpp_source. I then ran the alt-disk install. All
came up on reboot.
