AIX 5.2 installation
I am new to AIX and am trying to upgrade a RS6000/7044-270 server from
AIX 4.3.3 on to 5.2. My problem is I'm not seeing the Migration
installation option. Instead the default installation method was set
to "Intall and complete overwrite".
According to the 5.2 installation reference, the installation CD is
supposed to automatically detect that there is an existing os and set
the default installation method to Migration. One guess is that
currently the boot disk on this server is hdisk1, perhaps the
installation CD is expecting hdisk0 to be the boot disk, and since it
is not, the installation cd assumes that this is a new installation.
If this is the case, what do I need to do to make the installation CD
finds hdisk1 as the bootdisk.
Thanks.
