AIX Google-group email
I have noticed some AIXers have their signature at the bottom of their
postings. Is it possible to get emails of the google-group postings
and reply to a thread by email also. Google help says group postings
are only viewed via browsers.

Can you point to an example?

Email responses to USENET threads are poor style. If you're following-up
to a recent post, just post to USENET. It's public, it's archived, and
everyone can see it and learn from it. If the post you want to follow-up
to is old, and the problem it discussed, is unresolved, it's fair to
send email to one of the posters. But as a matter of practice, don't
email posters willy-nilly. It saps the benefits, as I said, of having
public, archived newsgroups.
Regards,
Nicholas

email to reply to a THREAD. That is, can you use an email system to
connect to Usenet?
Such gateways have existed in the past, but they're probably
subscription if they still do. A threaded news-reader is much better
for such things, but if you tend to live and die by email, it would
make sense for you to find and pay for such a service.
Use yahoo or google and search for 'email gateway nntp usenet' and see
if something there provides you the right direction.
