I have recently purchased a RS/6000 43P-150 workstation for the
purpose of learning AIX 5L....

Q1) Do many use an RS/6000 workstation as their "main" desktop system
(home or work)?

Q2) Is it possible to install KDE 3.1.X or Gnome 2.X on AIX 5.1?

Q3) Is OpenOffice available for AIX 5.1?

Q4) Is there any Office Suite that reads MS file formats available for
AIX 5.1?

Q5) Does AIX 5.1 offer a Linux compatability layer which will allow
one to simply install "any" opensource app?

Q6) What are some of the better AIX websites and/or books that are
available for learning AIX 5L?

Q7) Is it possible to install AIX and Linux on my RS/6000 at the same
time? How?

Q8) I would like to specifically learn more about performance tuning
on AIX 5L, ie vmstat, topas, and other tools. Is there a book or site
that discusses these topics indepth?
