    Default Align

How to align two or more object relative to the center axe of the last chosen one AND keep the position of the reference object (last picked)intact (without getting it moved)?

    Thank you in advance.

    Default Re: Align

Select all the involved objects. Click one more time on the one you want to stay put. Click the Center align icon(s).

AI is very limited in what it can do in automatically aligning directSelected points. You are limited to the choices in the dialog which results from the unintuitively-named Object>Path>Average command.

This command will let you align them vertically or horizontally or both along an axis which is the average of all their original positions.

Unlike in other programs, there is no support for aligning them to other whole objects, distributing them, setting one of them to be the unmoved index, etc.

There are manual ways you can align individual anchor points (noting the "X" value of point number one, and with the direct select tool select point #2 and entering the same "X" value, for instance), but that changes the shape of the objects, and I presume you are not wanting that.
