Re: aligning and distributing objects on a path..
Hello Todd...
I have answered a similar question in another AI newsgroup about
distributing objects evenly in a circle, this is about 10 objects, you
just change the numbers. Here it is, maybe you can take it from
there.... Just replace coin with a star...
Make a vertical path with no fill and no stroke in same heigth as the
diameter you want your final circle to be. Select your path, go to
Object, Path. select outline path. Now align your coin with the path you
made so it is centeret horisontally and aligns vertically with the
inside of the top of your path. Now group the path and the stroke.
With the group selected, go to Effects, Distort & Transform, Transform.
Now in the rotate field type 360/10 (10 is the number of coins you want)
And in the copies field type 10-1 (10 is the number of copies you want
but you got 1 already) hit enter and youre done.
This is a live effect, so you can change it again using the appearance
palette.
If you want your coins to have the same orientation, you can expand the
apperance, ungroup it, select the coin placed at one o'clock,
doubleclick the rotate tool, now type 36 and hit enter.
Select the next coin ( 2 o'clock) doubleclick the rotation tool, it now
says 36 so now you enter +36 ( in the field it will read 36+36) hit
enter. keep doing this all the way round just adding 36 degrees for
every coin..

Re: aligning and distributing objects on a path..
Todd,
Make star. Drag to brush palette. Apply brush to circular path. Adjust spacing and orientation along path using brush options.
