Alternative to the keyword "the"?? - Macromedia Director Lingo

I learn that lingo has a keyword the, which is used in many context such as "the stagecolor", "the long time" , however, being a modern programmer, i dont seem to quite like the word "the"...so i am wondering, if there is anyway to replace "the" in these commands....?? E.g, i found out that i can instead of put(the time) , i can actually do put(time()) !!! and it work!!! but if instead of put(the long time). i changed to put(long time()), i realize i got syntax error), so is there anyway to rewrite the same command, without the "the"....????? ...

Seems to be unreadalble "c" programmers.
What you may do, create an xta with all functions you want into "c language"
Call your functions like mytime = Time.long() from lingo.

    No problem.
