An unknown error occurred in the Contribute file statemanager

When trying to create a page from a pre-set template in Contribute 1, I get the
message

An unknown error occurred in the Contribute file state manager

It previously worked but I had to make some minor textual changes to the
template in Dreamwever. Once I had made the changes and saved the template,
this message was generated.

Can anybody offer any advice?

I am bumping this post because I am having a similar problem.

I am evaluating contribute as a possible CMS service to offer our customers (I
create the templates, they manage their content).

I have been able to create a new page from my templates on contribute, but am
unable to edit pages. I am using the 30 trial of Contribute 3.1

Any help would be appreciated.

I am also having this problem, users have been editing the front page (
Dreamweaver ) of our intranet for months without a problem, until now. Now when
they try to publish the page they get 'an unknown error occurred in the
contribute file state manager'. I've checked other forums and other sites and
there seems to be a lot of people out there with this priblem but no-one has a
fix.

Same problem here with Contribute 3.11 and Contribute 4.0 on Windows XP SP2 and using Contribute Publishing Services 1.11.
