And they say there is "no such thing as a stupid question"?

Default And they say there is "no such thing as a stupid question"?

Here is my dilema. I work for a marketing company and we want to start "emailing" websites for promotional purposes to our clients and our potential clients. We are using Mac computers (we are graphic designers what do you expect?) using Microsoft Outlook to try to accomplish this. We have tested emailing html files to ourselves, but instead of of the page opening up when you open your email, all we get is a stupid link. I know there is some way to do this because I have RECEIVED them but I am unclear how. Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanx

    Icarus,

I see you haven't had an answer for a couple of days. I'm an ignorant
newbie myself but I see this question come up really frequently on the
macromedia dreamweaver forum. So you might want to post it over there or
    Google it.

Not sure that that will work - images will be a problem since the
recipients email client will not be able to deal with images that have
    the normal syntax (src-"images/name_of_image_file.gif")

I assume from the original postee(?) that you are talking about html
emails? I suspect that your options for creating. There are dedicated
apps that allow you to create html emails. As has already been suggested
have a look at the dreamweaver forum - loads of posts there.

    Here is my two cents.
    Dunno nuthin 'bout Mac.
Suppose Outlook IE on MAC, has the same features as in Windows.
1.Open a new email in outlook
2.Click on 'view' , click on 'source edit'
    3. the window at the bottom has 3 tabs (in winderz it does)
    4. click on middle tab 'source'

and there you have it, all the HTML you want to make that email letter.
once that is done, click on the right tab 'preview'
images that you insert may not appear so it will ask you where they are.
once you have done that all images become 'inline'
so when the client receives the email it will be a webpage.

to reduce the size of the email, as some servers have limits point the images to your web server.
So when the client opens the email it will automatically download the images.

PS. Little known factoid, if an email with attachments is 2Megs in size, it will grow to 3 to 5 megs once you hit the send button. As the email program "converts" the whole shabang into one package.
Thus what you thought was within limits actually turns out to be too big and gets bounced by the server.
A really crappy situation if you sent that email to serveral people.
