form of flash, JPG and PNG charts within our web pages.

A Printing Checklist For Problem-Free Print Jobs
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=D5A1D
Kim Dudley

Completing an attractive design and sending it to print is a great feeling.
But there is nothing worse then sending a file to print, only to have the
printer call you because they are having problems with your artwork. This
can cause delays and significantly add to the cost of printing. If a printer
needs to spend time fixing your mistakes you better expect to pay for it.
So how can you avoid problems and ensure your file prints the
way it is supposed to? This article will provide a checklist to use during
setup and before sending a file to print. It will help you avoid the common
problems that arise during a print job. In addition to the checklist I have
also included a PDF of a job sheet. This job sheet includes information the
printer will need to output your artwork correctly. Just fill it out and
send it along with your files or use it to create your own customized
version.
A checklist and a job sheet, two simple items that will help you be sure
your print job is completed on time and on budget.

Fireworks Layers- Best Practices
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=547BE
Jim Babbage

Organization. Structure. These are keys to productivity in a business
environment, and in a creative environment as well. In a program like
Fireworks, the Layers panel can really help you get - and stay - organized.
But only if you get - and stay - in the habit of working with it in a
logical manner. The goal of this article is to give you some tips on staying
organized with Layers. The design and layout of your creations may require
different processes, but
I believe that the following tips will help you organize your document,
regardless of how you work.
Fireworks is unique in that - unlike Photoshop - multiple objects can be
placed in a single layer. Fireworks treats anything in a document - text,
vector or bitmap - as an object. The temptation (or possibly old habit) is
to think of those objects as layers. The ability to have objects within
layers gives us more control over the document, however, than Layers alone.

Working With SQL Server Part 5: Setting Constraints and Defining Diagrams
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=09C30
Adrian Senior

In this tutorial, we will begin by looking at how you can set up a database
diagram within Enterprise Manager. We will then move on and look at how we
can set constraints to manage the data we allow to be inserted into our
database - both by good table design and using constraint expressions.

DOM: Scripting to the Standard - Part 2
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=6E017
Rob Williams

In the first part of this series we took a look at what the DOM standard was
and how
important it is to modern web development. This time around we take those
concepts and begin to apply them to a practical application: browser-based
scripting.

Slicing and Exporting Multiple Buttons in Fireworks
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=7159E
Kim Cavanaugh

Slicing images in Fireworks is one of those fundamental skills that every
user of the software has to get a handle on at one time or the other. Sure,
you can use Fireworks only for creating images, but that isn't really what
it was made to do. Fireworks is a web production tool and understanding
different methods for doing production work is part and parcel of learning
how to work with this fabulous tool.

In this set of four Captivate video tutorials you'll have the opportunity to
see one method for creating a simple rollover navigation bar like the one
below.

Fireworks Hotspot Rollovers
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=1CC50
Linda Rathgeber

Everyone knows that web images are rectangular. If you want a navigation
system made of image rollovers, you have to make them out of stacks of
rectangles, or horizontal arrays of rectangles. Rectangles to the left.
Rectangles to the right. Rectangles over and under. Gets boring, eh?

Streaming MP3s with Flash Communication Server - Part 5: Creating a MP3
Database
http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=C6778
Robert Reinhardt

In this tutorial, you learn how to use MP3 Observer Pro to quickly create a
Microsoft Access database describing a collection of MP3 files. This
database will be set up as a datasource for ColdFusion. You will then create
a ColdFusion component (CFC file) that can select artist, album, and song
names from the datasource. In a later tutorial, you learn how use this
datasource over a Flash Remoting gateway.

needs to spend time fixing your mistakes you better expect to pay for it.
