Hi Craig,

I'm not quite sure what you mean. There are in the user guide. There's a
quick tutorial about coloring in a stained glass window with colors from
the CathedralGlass palette in the user guide. Once you load a palette
(or palettes) into the Fireworks Swatches panel, you can pick colors
from it the same way you normally do.

Sorry for the confusion, Linda...
I was trying to convey the idea that a couple of graphics which may show
the colour palettes in actual use on some graphics. Maybe that doesn't
make sense for this type of a product. I just have to be honest that
when I went to the site, I kind of expected to see examples of the
product "in action" so to speak. I know you certainly couldn't post up
the palette matrix itself, as that is the product! I am not shy about
purchasing over the Internet, but I do know that I hesitated when making
a purchase decision. I have purchased your stuff and stuff you have
collaborated with in the past, so I know that the quality of this
product will be high. That being said, if I was a person unfamiliar
with your work, I know that I would not purchase the Kit without seeing
something first.

I hope that makes some sense. BTW, good luck with the kit!

Here's a mix of partial screen shots of some of the palettes. It's a

The only version of Photoshop I have to test it in is an old one, so I
really can't say whether it would work or not. They should work in any
program that accepts .aco color tables with no upper limit on the size
of the table.

I had a ball using the colors as a basis for creating color schemes in

Linda,

I made a little experiment: I saved the palette from FW MX, and tried to
open it in Photoshop 7. FW could only save the palette as .act (not .aco).
This file was rejected by Photoshop. I believe the reason is that Photoshop
requires that an .act file must contain exactly 768 bytes and 256 rgb
entries, (as opposed to an .aco file which has a more flexible format).

My impression is that there is a problem here in the sense that the FW saves
an non-standard .act file instead of an .aco.

I did find a freeware utility that seems to be able to convert between
different palette formats.
http://www.totalshareware.com/asp/detail_view.asp?application=5541 I did not
test it but is seems it can convert the palette files to a format acceptable
by Photoshop.

I'm glad you could use ColorImpact for this. I have on my to-do list some
new features that could possibly make the process a bit easier. This list is
quite long though, so I'm not sure when it will happen. :-)

Yes. My mistake. I meant ACT.

They install in Flash with no problem, so if the act file is non
standard, then it is standard to Macromedia software. I'll have a look
at the shareware you mentioned.
