Another Question Regarding Spot & Transparency
I have a job that uses multiple objects stacked upon each other using the multiply transparency feature. All of these object are stacked upon an embedded grayscale photo.
When I try flattening the transparency and running the file through our Direct-to-Plate RIP all the spot objects are reduced to 0% opacity, effectively making it appear that none of the spot objects are there, just the grayscale photo.
We are using Illustrator CS for Mac. The document is only two color (spot + K). Is this something that is unprintable as a 2/c using transparency?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Mike... do you manualy flatten the transparency? Do it look correctly
inside Ai? Have you honored the overprint when processed to the rip?

Re: Another Question Regarding Spot & Transparency
Yes, I manually flatten the transparency. It changes its look slightly (but within acceptable variance) when I flatten the trans. The Overprint appears to be honored when sent to the RIP.

Re: Another Question Regarding Spot & Transparency
When you did manualy flatten the transparency, did you us ethe option
(Keep Overprint ans Spot Color). This must be checked if you want to
preserve the spot color as spot..
Also, why are you manually flattening the art before saving?

Re: Another Question Regarding Spot & Transparency
That might be a nice feature in CS : "keep overprint as spot color"
But in previous versions, I doubt it exhists. (Otherwise I would use it constantly!)
I might have heard wrong, but you shouldn't flatten transpareny when using spot color.
