Another user question.
Cheers all for the help with my previous user question.
I now have another which i'm hoping proves just as easily
cured.
After creating users, I had tended to set it so that the
user must alter their own password when they log on,
which is what I really want it to do. However, with that
setting on Win XP Home refuses to allow the user to log
on, only when I remove that the user must change password
can they log on.
I'm hoping that this isn't something to do with XP Home
being unable to log onto a domain, and I'm really hoping
that someone can tell me how to let my users change their
own passwords. Please.

Hi Darren,
one question. Are we talking about domain username or local username where
you setup "User must change password at next logon"...

Re: Another user question.
Darren,
As far as I am aware, win XP Home is not able to join a domain.
This explains your issue, you can log onto the domain if you provide a
account/password matching credential in your AD. But if something goes wrong
during authentication process (such users forced to change their
password..), you get back a logon failure.
I'll try to find some detailled article,

Re: Another user question.
Sorry, it's an active directory username on a win2k3
server. Currently the only way I can get the XP Home
machines to log onto the server, is by having a shortcut
to a shared drive (on the server) which when they double
click asks them for their user name and password (which
is not ideal by any stretch of the imagination).
I set it originally as requiring the password to be
changed, but when they tried logging on like that the log
on just kept asking for user name and password, as soon
as I removed the user must change password from their
profile the log in worked instantly.
I'm just hoping it's not a restriction on XP home,
otherwise I'm not overly happy with the situation.

Re: Another user question.
I think you already got your answer ... This is Windows XP Home edition
limitation...
