Re: Anti Virus for Vista
Microsoft itself is not too interested in supporting x64 enabled software or
services. MSN Music stuff, Windows Meida Player stuff, all kinds of ActiveX
controls, stuff for IE 6 x64, Live stuff, OneCare stuff. At least they are
attempting to do Defender for XP x64. (Doesn't work though.)
As for partners, it is practically impossible to get good x64 Antivirus
support for XP, much less Vista.... not sure about Vista x86 though.

No, Windows OneCare won't be supported until after Vista is released, right
now its target base is Windows XP. Recommendations, Windows Life Safety
which is online scanner, eTrust Enterprise 8.0 Public Beta Trial, Macaffee
Enterprise 8.0 BETA for Vista is expected in March, Avast! Home 4.63 (please
disable web shield), Symantec AntiVirus for Vista

"As for partners, it is practically impossible to get good x64 Antivirus
support for XP" - I am running Symantec AV 10.0.1 and it works just fine on
x64 (Avast and Nod32 are free.
I beg to differ:

Re: Anti Virus for Vista
Yeah but how many of these work or are obtainable, AVG fails to install,
Symantexc needs a license code. NOD I'm about to try.

Re: Anti Virus for Vista
OneCare Live is expected to be rolled out into beta at the time of RC1 (a
month or so after the Beta 2 release, and about the same time OneCare Live
is released as a full product) and will be run as a beta on Vista.
