Antivirus crashes Photoshop 7
I succesfully installed Photoshop 7 and on reboot tried to load the programme. It got as far as "Sorting Fonts" and then I received a "general protection fault in module user.exe" messsage and had to close the programme down. I removed and reinstalled Photshop and got the same message. Eventually I found thatstopping Norton Antivirus 2002 running in the background caused it to load OK.
I then completely removed Norton and installed AVG antivirus and got exactly the same error message! Again stopping the antivirus running at startup prevented the crash!
At present I have to inactivate the antivirus in order to run the programme.
Is this a known bug in Photoshop 7?
I have a 1.8 GHz AMD Processor with 256 Mb DDR Ram and Windows 98 SR2.
No other programmes were running at the time and Sytem Resources look reasonable.

Re: Antivirus crashes Photoshop 7
A follow up to my problem that is even more strange. I found that I only get an error message if it the first programme I load after boot up. If I load any other programme(even just notepad) it runs OK. Could it be a System Resources issue to do with the user heaps?

If it's me, I'd follow Dave's advice in post #2.
