Any recommendations on the... - Macromedia Director 3D

I have quite a large project to complete. Basically it involves 5 characters (W3D) who each have lots of different moves, up to 60 each. They are being created and animated in Max. Once into Director I'm trying to load them onto the stage when a user selects their corresponding level. So if a user goes to level 1, then it should load character 1 etc. Each move must then be playable, pausable, resetable and the character rotatable. What I'm trying to avoid, for obvious reasons, is having each and every move separate, meaning there are some 300 cast members ...

I have quite a large project to complete. Basically it involves 5 characters
(W3D) who each have lots of different moves, up to 60 each. They are being
created and animated in Max. Once into Director I'm trying to load them onto
the stage when a user selects their corresponding level. So if a user goes to
level 1, then it should load character 1 etc. Each move must then be playable,
pausable, resetable and the character rotatable. What I'm trying to avoid, for
obvious reasons, is having each and every move separate, meaning there are some
300 cast members in the library. My theory is to animate all of the character's
moves into that character so that they are essentially a very long animation of
all their moves. Then, when a user wants to go to the next move she clicks a
button and it jumps to the point in the animation where the next move begins.
I'm using flash and director in conjunction and so i think i'll also load the
corresponding buttons for each different character that is a unique movieclip
made up of 60 keyframes, where the points in the animation are new moves.

Does this sound like the best way of doing it?

    Hey timmy.
Bones? yes, good you're on the right path
Make sure you group your skin and biped/bones before export to w3d. (it should
    animate in preview).
Use the bonesplayer.play method for playing a little bit out of a long bones
    animation.
I've found though if you got keyframe 10 in max it's 333 in director 3D. so
multiply your max keyframes by 33.3 as you go. (that's my fix, I don't know
    about others.)
