Any Sony Mavica CD500 users? - Photography

I'm seriously considering purchasing the Sony Mavica CD500, and have rea a lot on it, as well as other digital cameras. This will be my first digital camera, (heck, for all intensive purpases, I have not had a "real" camera for about 10 years). I want to take up photography as a hobby, and I'm now in a position where I can afford a camera, (but only one!). Default Any Sony Mavica CD500 users?

I'm seriously considering purchasing the Sony Mavica CD500, and have rea a
lot on it, as well as other digital cameras. This will be my first
digital camera, (heck, for all intensive purpases, I have not had a "real"
    camera for about 10 years).

I want to take up photography as a hobby, and I'm now in a position where
I can afford a camera, (but only one!). I want to learn how to take
pictures manually, and yet, I also want it to be able to do everything as
well. I want to grow into my camera. The all but limitless memory is a
    really big deal for me.

Here are some of the questions that I have for current users of this
    camera:

    1) What do you find are the big "conns" in purchasing this camera?

    2) Is the auto-focus fast?

    3) This camera only has a 3x optical lens. Of the types of shots you
take, (which type of shot do you typically take), do you find this to be a
severe limitation? But then again, the camera allows you to add a lens!

    4) Do you find the fact that it does not have a "view finder" to be a
serious set back? I am aware of the attachable view finder, but do you
find this difficult to overcome, and how difficult is it to focus without
    it, really?

    5) I'm able to purchase this camera for $571.00 via my employee discount,
(5% over cost). Given the quality of this camera, would you race to the
    store to buy it? ;-)

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Be sure to check if not a digicam with more zoom will be cheaper than
CD500 + extra lens. There are some Olympus UltraZooms that are pretty
good, but they're in the 4MP class - in the 5MP class HP just released
the 945 and it seems to be a bargain, but with a slower lens...
