I am having the same problem with dropped apostrophes in PDF files I send to printers (two different ones). It happens with Myriad Pro ( but not with Minion Pro). I use InDesign to export the file.
Within InDesign I have solved this problem with help from members of the InDesign Forum (it happened when I printed from InDesign to a Laser printer) by going to the "Graphics" section of the print dialogue and ticking the box "Download PPD Fonts". The problem being that the font in the printers used do not match the fonts on my Mac. (If you go to the InDesign Forum you will see a very large stream of comments debating this issue.)
But it now seems that this same problem is happening with PDF files exported from InDesign.
I really think this is something Adobe needs to look into, as the problem did not exist within Pagemaker.

I am having a very similar problem. I created a pdf export in InDesign (CS4) and opened it up in Adobe Acrobat to make a form and the apostrophe disappeared. When I open the same pdf in Preview it's still there. I went back and embedded the entire font (it's Helvetica) and still no luck. Anybody got any ideas?
