Apple Mail and SMTP Authentication - Mac Networking

Does anyone have a solution (or encountered) the problem below: Running Mail, I connect to an IpSwitch IMail server using SMTP Authentication. I use password as the type of connection. Even though the password and account for SMPT is the same as for the POP, Mail keeps rejecting my attempts and prompts me to re-enter my password (which of course is again rejected). I tried the same thing from outlook express under windows and everything works fine. Any ideas... Thanks C....

Default Apple Mail and SMTP Authentication

Does anyone have a solution (or encountered) the problem below:

    Authentication.
I use password as the type of connection.

Mail keeps rejecting my attempts and prompts me to re-enter my password
(which of course is again rejected).

I tried the same thing from outlook express under windows and everything
    works fine.

    Any ideas... Thanks

I don't know if this applies here, but for some ISPs (verizon was one as
I remember) users had to put the full email address rather than just the
user portion into the appropriate spot in the account settings to get
SMTP AUTH to work with Mail. YMMV of course, but it's worth a try.

Have you tried installing Outlook on your Mac and seeing if that works?
Not the greatest solution as far as I'm concerned, but it might be worth
    trying.
