Are you using a developer license?

Also, you might check your routes. If this is a work machine, it's possible
that your network guys changed a route, or your firewall guys put in a new
firewall rule. As a last ditch effort, you might check with the person who owns
your relay mail server and make sure they haven't denied you.

Something helpful might be to make sure you have 2 mail servers listed, so if
it can't send through one, it might get out on the other.

    Thanks for replying.
No we are not using a developer license. We are using a CFMX 6.1 standard
    edition license.
Not sure what you mean by route? but the administrator of the mail server said
there is no firewall implemented on the mail server and that port 25 is not
    blocked.
I dont think i can list 2 mail servers with coldfusion mx 6.1 standard edition.

i also noticed the following error message in the default event logs generated
    by coldfusion
"A License Exception has been thrown
    coldfusion.license.LicenseManager$LicenseIllegalAc cesception: A License
    Exception has been thrown"

    could this be the problem.

    thanks
