Applying a Gradiant in Color...Is this possible? - Adobe Indesign Windows

I am using Adobe InDesignSC 3.0.1 with a Windows XP machine. I would like to apply a gradiant using a shade of blue and white but it seems like all I can use is black and white. I know this type of thing can be done in Photoshop, so I would think it could be done in InDesign as well. I tried checking the Help Menu and it is not working but I noticed something on the website here about something with XP possibly interfering with that. I'll have to look into that too.     Default Applying a Gradiant in Color...Is this possible?

    Use the swatch palette to add a new gradient swatch. Then just click on
    the gradient stops to add your color.
