Applying text to a circle. - Adobe Illustrator Windows

Im helping a friend of mine with some stuff on AI [I got CS, she says she got Version 10], though over the phone it aint the easiest thing! Anyway, she wants to do a very simple thing; apply text all the around a circle - the only problem being all the text has to be the right way up. Im helping a friend of mine with some stuff on AI [I got CS, she says she got Version 10], though over the phone it aint the easiest thing!

Anyway, she wants to do a very simple thing; apply text all the around a circle - the only problem being all the text has to be the right way up. Not a problem I said, first draw your circle and use the 'type on a path' tool [with the copy on the outside of the circle outline] for the top half of the circle. Next, paste the same circle in front; type the rest of the copy and using the middle vertical line [know which one I mean?], flip the text to the inside of the circle outline; then spin it round to the bottom half of your circle - both sections of copy being the right way up. Now, using the 'baseline shift', line the 2 sections of text up....nice and easy?

Now the problem she got and I cant work out, is she hasn't got those 3 little vertical lines [the one at the start of the copy which spins the text around the shape, the one at the end, and the middle line which flips the copy - which is the one she really needs!]

    Hope this is making sense?

Where could those lines/anchor points be? Is there somewhere where you can turn them on and off? Its nothing to do with 'Hide/Show Edges', as she can see the outline of the circle - its just the vertical [blue in my case] lines that aint there!

Sorry the is long winded - any help would be great.

Perhaps a tutorial with visuals will help your friend. Here's a good one (by Phosphor):

That might have solved the problem? Cheers Harron.
